Aura provides group activities and sessions to help bring people together – whether it’s through a practical workshop or a social meeting. Improved social skills can lead to stronger relationships, reduce feelings of isolation, and contribute to overall personal wellbeing.
Groups and meetings offer a valuable space for emotional support. These get togethers can provide an opportunity for people to develop new relationships, share challenges, express their feelings, and receive support from others.
Examples of the type of groups Aura might run include parent self-care evenings. Looking after children can be rewarding, but also exhausting! By taking time out to be pampered, relax, and meet others parents – mums and dads can take time for themselves rather than just being ‘mum’ or ‘dad’, and gives them the opportunity to have a laugh (or cry!) with others going through similar experiences and challenges.
When someone is experiencing mental health challenges, it can feel ‘easiest’ to retreat and hide away. However, interacting with others can reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. Through meeting with others, it can help to reduce stress, alleviate anxiety and depression, and provide comfort during difficult times. Aura provides the opportunity for people to meet and socialise with others in a supportive environment, improving overall mental wellbeing.
Groups, such as drama therapy groups, can be a way for people to work through difficult emotions in a safe space. Through the experience and knowledge of the team at Aura, we can hold groups and courses to encourage expression, engage in meaningful conversation, and provide practical coping skills.
At Aura we want to break down barriers and normalise talking about mental health. By openly discussing mental health, sharing personal experiences, and providing practical support, we want to encourage people to view mental health as an integral part of overall wellbeing.
Our groups and workshops provide a compassionate and inclusive environment where people can feel comfortable talking about mental health challenges and seeking support. Even where our groups are not ‘mental health’ focused, such as our wreath making classes, they still provide an opportunity to talk about mental health and seek support.
We understand people going through perimenopause and the menopause may face challenges, as well as the friends and family around them. Our Menopause Together sessions bring people together to learn about the menopause, tips and practical solutions that can help, as well as being a safe space to come together and talk.
Free and accessible
We firmly believe that everyone deserves access to mental health resources and support. We aim to make our services accessible to all. Where possible, our services are provided free of charge.
